Getting started

Open Play and tap Start a Round, then choose your course. Allow location when asked: ZeroIndex records where each shot is played from and measures how far it went. Tap Shot as you stand over each ball — or press once on your Apple Watch — and add the club, lie and how it felt whenever you have a moment, now or after the round.

Common questions

Why does ZeroIndex use my location in the background?

So a shot you forgot to log during a round can still be placed afterwards from where you walked. It records only while a round is under way, and your location stays on your device. See the privacy policy.

What are plays-like and normalised distances?

A plays-like distance is how far a shot will play once the slope to the target, the wind, the temperature and the altitude are counted. A normalised distance is how far a shot you hit would have gone in still air on level ground, so shots from different days and holes can be compared. Slope-adjusted distances are not allowed in competition (Rule 4.3a(1) of the Rules of Golf): switch plays-like off from the hill button on the map before a competition round.

Why is there no elevation for my course?

Ground heights come from Geoscience Australia's LiDAR survey, which covers coastal and urban Australia, and from NSW Spatial Services for New South Wales and the ACT. Some courses — many in South Australia, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and rural Victoria — are outside both, and there the app shows distances without slope rather than guess.

My course isn't listed, or its holes are in the wrong place

Tap Course not listed? Add it on the course list, and place each hole's tee and pin on the satellite map. To fix a mapped course, open it from Preview Course and tap Edit Map.

How do I get ZeroIndex on my Apple Watch?

Open the Watch app on your iPhone, find ZeroIndex under Available Apps, and tap Install. The Watch follows the round you start on your iPhone.

How do Free and Pro work?

Free keeps up to five rounds, with every feature. To keep more, go Pro — every plan starts with two weeks free. Deleting a round frees its place. Rounds you have kept always stay yours to view and export, whether or not you have Pro.

How do I cancel, restore or get a refund?

Subscriptions are handled by the App Store. To cancel, open your iPhone's Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On a new device, tap Restore purchases in ZeroIndex's Settings. For a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I keep my rounds when I change phones?

Your rounds live on your iPhone, so restoring your new iPhone from a backup of the old one brings them across. You can also keep your own copy at any time: Settings › Export data.

How do I delete my data?

Delete a round from the Play list to remove it and its shots, or delete the app to remove everything. We hold no copy of your data.
