ZeroIndex
Golf shot tracking for iPhone and Apple Watch

Privacy Policy

Effective 14 October 2026

The short version

ZeroIndex is made by Wandaland Solutions and Design Pty Ltd, an Australian company (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the ZeroIndex app for iPhone and Apple Watch does with information about you, and the choices you have. We wrote it to describe exactly what the app does, not what an app might do.

What stays on your device

Everything you record — rounds, scores, shots and where they started and finished, the wind and weather each shot was played in, your clubs, the courses you map, and your settings — is stored on your iPhone, and on your Apple Watch while a round is being played. The two talk to each other directly. Nothing you record is sent to us, because we have nowhere to receive it.

Your iPhone's own backup (iCloud Backup, or a backup to your computer) includes the app's data, as it does for most apps. That backup is between you and Apple.

Location

ZeroIndex uses your location to record where each shot is played from, to measure how far it went, and to show how far you are from the hole. During a round it keeps recording your position in the background, so a shot you forgot to log can still be placed afterwards. It only does this while a round is under way.

Your location is kept on your device with your round. The services below receive a place on the course, not your location, and never a history of where you have been. You can change or remove location access at any time in your device's Settings.

Apple Health

On Apple Watch, ZeroIndex can save each round as a Golf workout in Apple Health, which keeps distances live on your wrist between shots. It writes the workout and reads nothing from Health. You control this in the Health app, and can delete the workouts there.

Services the app contacts

A few features need information the app does not carry with it. For these it contacts the services below over an encrypted connection. Like any web server, each one sees your device's IP address with the request, and may keep it in its logs under its own privacy policy.

ServiceWhat it receives, and why
MET Norway The course's position, rounded to about a kilometre, and its height above sea level — for the wind and temperature forecast during a round. The answer is kept on your device until it expires, so the same place is not asked about again.
Geoscience Australia The area around a hole — for the ground heights behind slope-adjusted distances and contour lines. Fetched once per hole and kept on your device.
NSW Spatial Services The same, for a hole in New South Wales or the ACT that Geoscience Australia does not cover.
OpenStreetMap The area around a course, when you add a course or fill one in from its map — for the course's hole layout. ZeroIndex asks public OpenStreetMap servers for this.
Apple The map area on screen, for satellite imagery, and the name you type when searching for a course, to find it. Purchases are handled entirely by the App Store (see below).

None of these services is told who you are, and we receive nothing from them about you.

What we don't do

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may send us crash reports and performance figures for ZeroIndex. Apple removes information that identifies you before we see them, and we use them only to fix problems.

Subscriptions

ZeroIndex Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment, your Apple Account and your subscription; we never see your payment details or who you are. The app learns only whether Pro is active on your device. You manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings, under Subscriptions.

Your data and your choices

Because we hold no information about you, there is nothing for us to give you a copy of, correct or delete on our side — but if you have a question about any of this, we're happy to help.

Security

Your data is protected by your device's own security, including its passcode and encryption. Every request the app makes to the services above uses an encrypted connection.

Children

ZeroIndex is not directed at children under 13. The app collects no personal information from anyone, child or adult.

Australian Privacy Principles

We are based in Australia and handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If you have a concern about how ZeroIndex handles your information, please contact us first. If we don't resolve it, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling information differently, we will update this page before that version of the app is released, change the effective date above, and say so in the app's release notes.
